The Incredible Edible Lambeth (IEL) Estates Nature Project, is a year long series of events to support Palace Road Estate residents to look after and improve nature on our estate, as well as building community connection, and encourage learning of new skills.
Run in partnership with Lambeth Council, the project will kick off with a community consultation on Saturday October 5th, 11:30am-1pm at the HIVE Cafe.
The project is run by Thea from Incredible Edible Lambeth supported by PRERA. Everyone is welcome to the community consultation meeting; Thea will work collaboratively with residents and, based on what our residents need and want, will empower us to improve our estate, giving us the tools to garden with nature and protect our vital green spaces.
- IEL will engage and support residents to increase biodiversity on their estates by creating nature-rich areas, building wildlife habitats, planting bulbs and other pollinators, tree-planting and food-growing.
- The project will link nearby estates to one another through ‘green corridors’
- It will provide opportunities for residents to meet up, visit other community gardens and local organisations and to learn from one another.
- The project will include a series of trips to local gardens, museums and organisations, free of charge to attendees.
- IEL can recruit, train and pay three residents to deliver their own workshops or sessions throughout the year.
- The project can include a series of four nature drawing workshops for adults and families with children. Art work will be used by IEL to create a biodiversity booklet for publication online.
- IEL will also organise four Non-violent Communication workshops across the estates, to support open and effective communication that focuses on understanding and meeting the needs of both the speaker and the listener.
Please come down and share your thoughts and ideas for the project. This will help Thea to plan for the exciting year ahead!
The Incredible Edible project has a year of funding through the Social Value Fund and is in partnership with Lambeth Council, aims to support with Lambeth’s Biodiversity Action Plan and Pollinator Plans for Lambeth.
